Alejandra Delfin
Executive Director
Founder of Studio 889

Alejandra C. Delfin is the founder of Studio 889 and current Executive Director of Studio 889. She is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and expertise with not just the Hunts Point community where Studio 889 is located, but to all who attend Studio 889 workshops.

Ms. Delfin studied at the Bob Blackburn Printmakers Workshop and at the Art Student League of New York. In Paris, she trained at Atelier 17 with renowned printmaker W. S. Hater, La Grande Chaumiere and at Ecole des Beaux Arts.

She is the recipient of a BRIO award from the Bronx Council on the Arts in 2005, Action Lab–Bronx Museum @ The Point in 2005, Longwood Arts Project/BCA Fellowship in 1993 and The Merit Scholarship from The Arts Students League in 1990. 

Alejandra's work has been exhibited internationally, regionally and in New York City at various galleries and institutions including  BAAD!, The Bronx River Art Center, Longwood Gallery, The Beacon Artist Union Gallery, The Broom Gallery, Cinque Gallery, Smith College, The Brecht Forum, Convento de San Francisco Museo De La Nation and the Aliansa Francesa in Lima, Peru. Her work has been in featured in publications such as Bob Blackburn Printmaking Workshop Catalog, Cicada Magazine; Long Shot Productions Literary Magazine; The New York Times review. Books featuring her work include El Grabado En El Perú Republicano: Diccionario Histórico by Nanda Leonardini and Reproduce And Revolt by Josh MacPhee and Favianna Rodriguez.

Ms. Delfin is current fellow of The Sustainable South Bronx Fabrication laboratory.

Laura Cantor
Instructor

Laura is an alumnus of Betty Wilde-Biasiny's Bronx Printmakers Workshop. In the 1970's she studied at the Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts. She recently received her Bachelor's Degree in art from Empire College, SUNY and is currently pursuing an MFA at Lehman College. Laura's recent solo exhibit at the New York Transit Museum featured large "colorized" enlargements of mechanical parts of subway trains inspired by her work as an MTA employee.
